As a coach, have you ever asked yourself: What drills should I do during practices to develop my goalies? In answer to that question, the EMHA is offering a Goalie Coach Clinic for all EMHA coaches that will be held on Sunday, December 18th from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The objective of this clinic is to show the EMHA coaches, assistant coaches and goalie coaches on how to train and develop the goalies on your team.
This is the first time the EMHA is offering this type of clinic and we strongly encourage you and your coaching staff to attend this clinic. This clinic is free and registration is not required. Simply show up at the arena at least 15 minutes before the start of the clinic. This clinic will be held on the ice.
Please forward a copy of this email to your assistant coaches and goalie coach.

The EMHA will be conducting a food drive from December 3rd to December 17th, 2011. We strongly encourage each player to bring in non-perishable items that will be donated to our local food bank, the Good Neighbours, in Embrun. A decorated box will be available on the weekends at the arena for people to drop off their donation. We appreciate your support. CLICK HERE for additional details.

All EMHA volunteers including coaches, assistant-coaches, trainers and
managers must complete a Police Check and the «Speak-Out/Respect in Sport»
offered by the ODHA. If you have not yet completed your police check,
please contact Ed Kennedy at risk-safety@emha-ahme.com. The
Speak-out/Respect in hockey clinic schedule is available at
Hockey Canada. Once
completed, the EMHA will reimburse you the cost of the clinic.

The EMHA Team Photo Night will take place on Tuesday November 15 and
Wednesday November16 at the Russell Arena upstairs hall. The schedule is
available at the end of this note.
Teams are asked to wear their AWAY jerseys and socks (blue jerseys). If
possible, due to limited space, it would be helpful if players could arrive
partially dressed in their hockey gear. Mats will be available for skate
tying and to walk on. Please ask your team to arrive early and to be ready
at least 10 minutes before their scheduled time to keep everything on time.
As we have a busy schedule, if a player is late he won’t be able to be in
the team picture.
Zoom2Events will be providing their photo services. Parents can preview
products on their website at www.zoom2events.com. There will also be a
display the night of the photo shoot. Orders will be returned in time for
Christmas. Order forms will be distributed through the team managers.
Order forms are also available online at
www.zoom2events.com. A
cheque or cash must be included with the order form.
While there is no obligation to purchase any photos, all players are
encouraged to attend in order to have complete team photos.
If you have general questions regarding the photo sessions or the schedule
please contact either Nadine Gagnon (nstpgagnon@hotmail.com) or Jocelyn Roy
(Jocelyn.roy@hp.com). If you have any questions regarding the Zoom2Events
products, please contact Mark at mark@zoom2events.com.

Approved at the Hockey Canada Annual General Meeting in Calgary, in May 2011, Hockey Canada’s new head contact rules are zero tolerance, implemented to cut down on the number of head injuries suffered in the game. The new rule will be in effect immediately, beginning with the start of the 2011-12 season. Since June, the conditioning camp dates have been published. The try-out dates were published in July. We hope this advance information was useful, especially in building your August-September family schedules. Here is a summary of key dates:
- Saturday August 27th --> start of the conditioning camps (IP to Midget)
- Monday August 29th --> start of the goalie clinics (Novice to Midget)
- Tuesday September 6th --> start of Novice/PGL evaluations and Nation practices
- Sunday September 11th --> start of IP regular practice
- Sunday September 11th --> body contact clinics (PeeWee to Midget)
- Saturday October 1st --> start of the 2011-12 regular season (Atom to Midget)
- Saturday October 15th --> start of the 2011-12 regular season (Novice)
As well, please note, for March Break, following a proposal tabled by the EMHA, District III voted in favour that there be no games during the full March Break (10-18 March 2012). Enjoy!
We have also published a PGL try-out information document which will help parents and players better-understand the logistics surrounding the selection process of our PGL teams. For those who are new to this process, PGL is the equivalent to "Rep-B" teams. We strongly encourage all potential PGL players and parents to read the 2011-2012 Evaluation Process.
For the 2011-12 season, the planned team structure is as follows:
- 4 Initiation teams
- 2 Novice B teams, 2 Novice C teams
- 1 Atom PGL team, 3 Atom Nation teams
- 1 PeeWee PGL team, 2 PeeWee Nation teams
- 1 Bantam PGL team, 2 Bantam Nation teams (possible collaboration with the Casselman Minor Hockey Association, pending final numbers)
- 1 Midget Minor IceDogs team (joint sub-association between Embrun and Casselman – information will be available shortly on our web site)
- 1 Midget PGL team, 2 Midget Nation teams
- 1 Juvenile team (we are close to our objective – recruitment in progress)
This structure is subject to change, due to variables such as our final registration session and Cobras/Wild player placement. It also requires final approval from District III.
And, as a final reminder, we encourage you to remind friends/neighbours that our final registration session will be held on Tuesday August 23rd (6:30pm to 8:30pm), at the Embrun arena.
Your EMHA Board of Directors wishes you all the best during these last weeks of summer, and look forward to seeing you during the August 27-28 weekend.
