 President's Message (Volume 2, 10-Nov-11)

Now that the season is in full swing for all levels, we thought it would be a good time to reach out to our members with another message.

First off, we would like to thank all the volunteers who have teamed up with the EMHA Board to ensure our teams are in place and ready to go.  As a minor hockey organization, our objective is to lay the foundation down to ensure that the minor hockey season gets off to a good start.  You, the coaches, assistant coaches, managers, trainers, and parents, are the ones that make it all happen.  This would not be possible without you all.  Many thanks again!

As of November , the regular season has just begun for our Novice, Midgets and Juveniles, our Atom, Peewee and Bantam teams have already played 5 - 6 games, and our Initiation level players are logging the practice hours and learning the basics of hockey.  We've even managed to host a PeeWee/Bantam Nation tournament.  Since we are at the start of this 6 month journey, we would like to remind parents and players to be patient and understanding as the team staff continue to work hard on ensuring the logistics are set for practices, tournaments and various events.  By now, most teams have had their team meeting, which is key in getting started on the right path.  If members have questions or issues related to team business, your team staff should be your first point of contact.

As discussed previously, our electronic calendar on our web site remains a very important communication tool for the EMHA.  We encourage all members to visit our web site calendar, as often as possible.  In parallel to this, the District has implemented a new web site this season.  As with any implementation, there have been some issues.  While these are being looked at and corrected, we remain convinced that their new web site will be a huge improvement for scheduling, standings and statistics.

In October, the EMHA hosted the 2011 Embrun Fall Classic PeeWee and Bantam Nation Tournament.  The EMHA would like congratulate once again the PeeWee Champions, Ottawa East and Bantam Champions, Canteburry Knights).  We would like to also congratulate our PeeWee Nation #1 team for making it to the PeeWee Finals.  The EMHA would like to thank our PeeWee and Bantam parents who volunteered their time and efforts to ensure the success of this tournament.  Many thanks to our VP Nation, Roland Desjardins, for coordinating this event once again.  Thanks also to our webmaster, Chris Baker, who authored the required online documents, so early in the season.  We have received many positive comments from the participants, so again....thank you all!

As we continue with our forward-thinking agenda, we will continue to collaborate with our District partners in finding ways to enhance the hockey experience in District 3 (Prescott-Russell).  At a recent District meeting, Association presidents did commit to start the reflection process at our next meeting in November.  As a first step, we plan on highlighting the different challenges that were encountered this season, and possibly highlight those challenges that we are forecasting next year, or in 3-5 years from now.  This is very encouraging, and demonstrates that other Associations are also looking forward, rather than looking back.

Your EMHA Board remains committed in continuing its communication efforts, in ensuring teams/volunteers/members are up to date with different news and issues.  We will continue sending out e-mail reminders and other important news.  We hope you find this timely information beneficial.

As we go full speed ahead towards the holidays (yes, only 7 weeks away), we would like to wish good luck to all our teams and all the best to the boys and girls who will be wearing proudly the Panthères jersey!!

Go Panthères Go!
